For best results: Effective in all water temperatures. The Laundress recommend washing coloured denim in cool water and white denim in hot water. If machine washing, turn items out and insert in a Mesh Bag (optional). Hang dry or tumble dry on low heat. Launder as follows:

Handwash: 2 capfuls 1/4 cup / 15ml - lasts 32 washes
HE Machine | Regular Cycle: 4 capfuls / 1/8 cup / 30ml - lasts 16 washes
Non-HE Machine | Regular Cycle: 8 capfuls / 1/4 cup / 60ml - lasts 8 washes

Did you know....

Contrary to popular belief, most fading occurs in the dryer, not the washer. Denim is best washed inside out. This prevents abrasion, which increases colour longevity and preserves elasticity. Always wash with like colours.

For white denim, add a capful of All-Purpose Bleach Alternative and launder in hot water.

To remove odours, prewash or presoak with Scented Vinegar. Apply vinegar directly on the affected areas and work it into the fabric.

Wash new dark or coloured denim alone in cold water to prevent issues with dye transfer on other items.

Colour is best maintained by not using the dryer, so it is best to hang dry.

Prior to altering and hemming, wash and dry at a high temperature to maximise the shrinkage, ensuring proper fit and length.

The ideal frequency of washing denim is a personal preference. Avoid washing to maintain a “perfect, worn-in” feel, or launder to restore the fit of jeans.

If you prefer not to wash regularly, we suggest Fabric Fresh Classic and steaming to eliminate odour-causing bacteria.

Wash like colours.
Hang to dry.
Prewash before altering.
